One look at the calendar is all it takes for Kansas State to feel a boost in confidence.
Even though the Wildcats have lost their past two games and are 4-5 in the Big 12, they look forward to the second half of their conference schedule knowing it’s the time of year the Wildcats have been at their best.
During Frank Martin’s first four seasons, the Wildcats were 23-8 in February, including a 20-3 mark over the past three seasons.

R.G. Flath scored a pair of first-period goals to help send the Thunder on its way to a 4-1 victory over Rio Grande Valley on Friday in Hidalgo, Texas.
Flath’s goals capped a three-goal flurry for the Thunder in a span of 3 minutes, 5 seconds. Matt Robinson started the spree with a goal at 11:38.
Chris Chappell scored the final goal at 13:49 of the third period.

There is a good chance that Wichita State junior Tanya Friesen will be standing on the podium at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships at the end of this month.
Friesen sprouted her first two seasons at WSU, learning the ins and outs of becoming a multi-event scorer, but she is blossoming this year. On Friday at the Varsity Apartments Invitational, the Buhler native won the pentathlon with a score of 3,574, a personal-best and a Heskett Center record.
